This is a great recipe if you are low on time and want a super tasty bread. This bread became so popular I have even been asked to make it for a local cafe.

IngredientsMakes: 1 bread

  • 750g strong white bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 avocados (ripe or overripe), mashed into a smooth paste
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chilli oil (optional)
  • 7g fast action dried yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 350ml warm water
  • 1 egg for the glaze
  • seeds or rock salt for sprinkling

  1. In a large bowl mix the flour with the salt, then add all the other ingredients apart from the water.
  2. Stir in the water to from a soft dough.
  3. Knead well for 10 minutes by hand or with an electric mixer with a dough hook.
  4. Line a baking try with parchment paper and shape the dough into a loaf. Make some deep cuts in the loaf and cover it in clingfilm or a plastic bag. Leave in a warm place till it doubles in size, about 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 220 C / Gas 7.
  6. For a deep shine and golden colour, beat the second egg with 1 tablespoon water and brush the loaf with it. Sprinkle with seeds or rock salt if desired.
  7. Bake in preheated oven with a tray of water in the bottom if you want a crispy loaf, till the bread is browned and sounds hollow when tapping the underside, about 30 to 35 minutes.
  8. As it is a very moist dough it can need a little drying out. Take the loaf out of the oven, turn the oven off and let it cool down to about 50 C. Return the bread to the oven for 15 minutes so it bakes a bit longer in the residual heat.
  9. Take out and allow to fully cool, then tuck in.

Tomato avocado and chilli soup

This is a quick and easy soup to make and the avocado makes it taste nice and creamy, with the benefit of being anti-inflammatory.  The chilli will give you the benefit from its pain killing properties as well as give the soup a bit of a punch.

Tomato avocado and chilli soup

Gluten free, dairy free, endo friendly

  • 450g cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small red chilli, sliced
  • 350ml vegetable stock
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons basil
  • salt and pepper, for seasoning

1.   Put the olive oil to a large saucepan over a medium heat

2.  򠫝 in the onion, garlic and chilli and sautéਏor 5 minutes

3.   Stir in the tomatoes and cover with a lid - reducing heat a little


How long does smashed avocado last?

Smashed Avocado is fragile recipe and is best made at the time of serving.

In my experience whilst the lemon juice does extend the life of the avocado and the old wives tail of squeezing more lemon juice onto our avo preserves it, I think it is best made and eaten on the same day.

Guacamole is a little bit different as there are a few more ingredients in there. Not to worry though as when you make this, you won't have any left over to keep in the fridge as it is so delicious!!


To begin making the Avocado Cheese Chilli Toast, take each bread slices and apply butter evenly on either side, sufficient enough to toast the bread.

Heat a skillet and put the slice on it. Let it cook on medium for 2 to 4 minutes on either side, or until bread is toasted.

Once done, spread a thin layer or mayonnaise on each slice of bread.

Put tomato and avocado slices and sprinkle black pepper powder + red chilli flakes on each toast. Top each toast with some grated cheese.

Serve Avocado Cheese Chilli Toast with Espresso Coffee for your tea time break.

I had no idea what an avocado looked like till I moved to US and now it’s one my favorite things to eat. Avocados are very rich in fats but at the same time super healthy.

There’s so much we can do with Avocados – make dips, use them in pizzas, salads, sandwiches, pastas etc. I make the avocado sandwich quite often for breakfast and will definitely share the recipe on my blog soon. It’s super easy to make, very filling and also very tasty. It is or let’s say it was my favorite way to eat avocados, I say “was” because today I found the best way to eat this fruit in a very Indian way – Avocado Paratha!

Avocado is considered a “super food”. Do you know it improves your skin and helps prevent many life threatening diseases. Though high in fat (healthy fat), it helps in weight loss. I had a ripe avocado which I added to the wheat flour and prepared a dough.

The avocado chapatis or avocado parathas were super soft and very delicious. Do try this healthy, super soft and delicious chapathi with the goodness of avocados!

Guacamole Sadnwich Recipe – Ingredients

Bread Slices – 4
Avocado – 1
Onion – 2 tbsp finely chopped
Tomato – 2 tbsp finely chopped
Pepper powder / Chat Masala Powder – 1/8 tsp
Lemon juice – from quarter lemon
Green chilli – 1 finely chopped
Coriander leaves – 2 tsp
Salt – to taste

Method:

  1. Choose ripe avocado which will be black outside…if you press with your fingers it will slightly be soft.Cut open avocado remove the seeds.Scoop out the avocado pulp with a spoon,mash it well without nay lumps to make it smooth…Transfer it to a bowl.Get all your ingredients ready.
  2. Add the ingredients to the avocado pulp mix well.Then add pepper powder and lemon juice.Mix well.
  3. Spread a tbsp of the avocado spread(guacamole) on one side of the bread, close seal it with another side.Press slightly.Heat a dosa tawa and toast the sandwiches with ghee or butter.

Simple Greek Avocado Sandwich

I am not much of a sandwich eater, are you? Sandwiches have a lot going for them in terms of easy preparation and portability, but I don’t generally get excited about them. I’d rather have a giant salad or open-faced toast.

This sandwich, however, is something else. It’s all of my favorite things sandwiched between two slices of whole wheat bread: buttery avocado, roasted red pepper, as much of my favorite Greek salad ingredients as I could fit, a splash of balsamic vinegar and rich basil pesto. It wouldn’t be the same in any other form sandwich is the way to go. I took back every insult I’ve thrown at sandwiches on first bite. And the best part? It kept me full from lunch until dinner. Not many vegetarian sandwiches can boast that.

The sandwich came to be while I was playing [read: procrastinating] at Panera’s Sandwich Showdown Contest. You can pick a bread and drag over ingredients. Avocado? Ta da! There it is. Bacon? Ta da! Change your mind on the bacon? Poof, it’s gone. If only bacon could be removed from the waistline so easily.

It’s a fun little game, a procrastination activity that I support, but I warn you that playing will make you hungry.

Another bonus of playing [procrastinating] at the Panera showdown is that they are giving away stellar prizes. Before you go, though, please tell me about your favorite sandwich to make at home. I just might be on a sandwich-making kick. I took a couple of shortcuts with this sandwich by using store-bought pesto and roasted red peppers. Ta da! Lunch in under ten minutes.


  • Swap the black bean for kidney beans or white beans.
  • If you want to spice things up add jalapeno and use more chili powder.
  • To freeze, transfer to a freezer safe containers or freezer bags and freeze up to 3 months. To defrost, transfer to the refrigerator to thaw overnight then reheat on the stove or microwave.
  • Refrigerate up to 4 days.

This chili recipe was modified from the new Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner website and I used this recipe with my own blend of chili spices, plus I added some tomato sauce. They have so many great recipes on their site I’m dying to try like this One Pan Roasted Tri-Tip and Brussels Sprouts and this One-Dish Beef Stroganoff just to name a few.
